Villa Jewel September 2021
Beautiful villa set high up in the Bespamak mountains above Lapta. So peaceful and quiet and private with outstanding views of the sea and the coast below. However 4 star given as you pay the price for being so remote!! A car is essential and preferably a 4x4 as the climb to the villa is very steep, narrow and rutted, especially the approach to the villa. Not for the faint hearted. Even a local taxi driver refused to attempt the final ascent to the villa. Forcing my wife to climb the final 200 yards in high heels !!
Also as the villa is so high up, and remote, even the bin lorry cannot reach it , so there are no external dustbins, and you need to make a daily drop off of rubbish to the locals bins about 400 yards away. You can’t let rubbish build up, as we all know in hot countries ants etc will plague you!! Also there were no internal nor external bins at the villa so plastic sacks are required to store rubbish. Not ideal in 30 degree plus temperatures.
That said we would go back in a heartbeat as we love the remote location and watching the wildlife in the mountains. Amazing birds of prey, and the Bee Eaters are a sight to behold and listen to. We even saw a chameleon.
The property managers, Villabook, were brilliant, responding very quickly and efficiently to any questions we had prior to our stay and during it. Special thanks to Jacquie, Kate and Barry.
