Looking out of the window to the horizon you have a sense you are on the helm of a ship. It is bathed in sunlight with spectacular views, across the Mediterranean towards the port and town of Sitges. The waves hit the rocks just below the windows. The apartment is open, light and modern with lots of built-in cupboard space. It has 2 bedrooms, both with double beds. There is a sofa bed in the living room with a pull-out bed. It is ideal for 4 people. But can accommodate 5. A fully equipped kitchen, with fridge, vitro ceramic hubs, oven, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher. TV, DVD + WiFi. Linen and bath towels provided. One bathroom. A communal pool at your front door. A sandy beach is a 5 min walk away along a little tree-lined pathway, or you can bask on the rocks below. There are a host of splendid restaurants within easy (6 min) walking distance to the port. And a 15 min walk to Sitges. The train in a good, easy way into the city. It passes behind approx half a km away. The Sitges station from the apartment is roughly a 15-20 min walk. There are numerous trains into Barcelona & its approx-a 35-min. trip.
Sitges - One of Catalonia's finest resorts: Sitges - One of Catalonia's finest resorts. It’s ideally located, being only 35 km south of Barcelona and 20 minutes by road from the airport. This proximity to the centre has proved it a popular weekend escape for the local city’s inhabitants all year round. Sitges has great architectural charm, with fine examples of Modernist architecture and an beautiful area of old town. It’s proximity to Barcelona means it is home for people of many countries, the town has an unusually cosmopolitan feel for a small Spanish town of such charm. It boasts a long seaside promenade, ideal for roller blading, bike riding, jogging or simply an after-lunch stroll. It works for all ages. There are also pedal boats for hire, and horse riding inland. It’s a great shopping town, with local market and fine array of boutiques. It offers a multitude of leisure/sporting opportunities, and plenty of villages in the hills to explore. An18-hole golf course, nearby pitch & putt ,as well as mini golf.
35-minute train ride to rich cultural Barcelona: It’s a 35-minute train journey from the rich, and beautiful cultural centre of Barcelona. (4 trains an hour). Barcelona with its rich artistic & architectural heritage, & beautiful city for strolling. Great cultural centres & exhibits.
The other kids attractions close by include the Port Aventura theme park and water park (70kms direct by train) Aqua Leon safari park -(45 minutes by car). There are bars and restaurants and nightclubs to accommodate all. Sitges has a big gay community and hosts various local “fiestas” full of local flavour, for which it is renown.
Day trips: Northern Cataluña/Girona. There is an abundance of impeccably preserved old towns 90 minutes to two hours north of Sitges by car in the lush province of Girona, with a range of architecture that spans Roman to Medieval times.
Penedes wine region as well as a Champagne route: There is the Penedes wine region as well as a Champagne route ideally suited for lunchtime visits. Other delightful towns: Peratallada, Pals. Lovely beaches/seafood restaurants at Begur, Sa Tuna, Calella. There are the Roman ruins in Tarragona, only 45 minutes away. The 18th century Benedictine monastery in Montserrat built into the dramatic serrated mountains is a worthwhile experience, and about 40 km away. A little further afield is a part of the world that Salvador Dali loved. An inspiring tribute to Dali is the museum at Figures. He had a home in Cadaqués, by the sea, and spectacular castle in Pubol, open to the public.
