Beware of the deposit! The owner hold it to pay ordinay maintenance expenses!
My family and I spent six nights at the apartment. The last night the folding sofa broke down and the owner blamed us for the damage and hold the deposit. As we explained to him, we did a completely normal use of the folding sofa and actually suffered its malfunction, but all our explanations were useless.
A month later, he has had the sofa repaired with our money, but we haven’t seen any receipt justifying the amounts charged, nor technical report explaining the reasons why the sofa broke down. We have asked for those documents, but he doesn’t answer the e-mails. In HomeAway they say that they don’t intervene in conflicts between the lessors and the renters, and that they can’t do anything to help us get our money back. The amount has virtually doubled the expected costs of our stay. We are now studying other possibilities to recover the money.
We couldn’t expect such a behaviour from the owner when we rented the apartment. In the end, this is a fraud, and it could happen again to any renter if the fridge, the washing machine, or anything big and expensive broke down. I wouldn't rent any property from this lesser. If you are unlucky enough and something breaks down, you will be heavily charged for an unsatisfactory stay.
