We are an older gay couple from Minnesota, USA, who were looking for an affordable apartment in Spain by the sea with a mix of vacation and remote working. So we rented this apartment for the month of June. Boy, did we luck out! As others have noted, the photos don't do it justice. Location is superb and views are stunning. We watched the ocean and birds every day, ate all our meals on the deck, and fell asleep to the sound of waves each night. The dining room table became our work space. This 8th floor apartment is superbly situated with the beach, malecon, 6 restaurants, and an icecream shop all within one block. Bar Bahia, the local downstairs, made us feel really welcome and is a great alternative to making meals. A big supermarket is only 3 blocks away and a food kiosk <100m from the front door. I hired a bike from Antonio's bike shop (<1 a mile away) for the stay. In short, we did not need a rental car, or use taxi or uber for the first two weeks. Restaurants had menus in English and (only) sometimes bilingual staff, so a translation phone app proved handy. Apartment is easily accessibly with two lifts, quiet yet we felt in the midst of things. Rota was a little quiet and the Atlantic a little cool in June but I still swam most days. Apartment has great Internet, the kitchen everything we needed (including a US sized fridge) and Anton was really attentive if we needed anything. When two family members joined us for the final week, it did not feel too small. Negatives: None really. The furniture I would describe as more comfortable and beachy, than flashy (which suited us). There were no TV channels in English so we just watched Netflix on an ipad. And we didn't care for the pizzas in the pizza shop downstairs. Biggest surprise: Working out when to go to dinner and which restaurants were open. We eat dinner at 7 pm back home, but the Spanish don't eat until after sunset which in June was 9:45pm or so. So we learned to have tapas on the deck, watch the sunset, and then to go out. Overall, we loved our stay. Rota feels really safe, welcoming, and relaxing. Biggest tips: Bring binoculars to look at the ships. A new restaurant called Kammala's opened while we were there. It's a bit more pricy than others but Michelin star quality food and drinks. Great for a special occasion. If we could give our stay more than 5 stars we would. Muchas gracias, Anton.
