Most unpleasant experience.
I had a really great connection with Liza the owner before booking the property. Arrived property & opened the door to an intense moldy smell. Found the water pressure between super low and non-existant upstairs. Spent hours airing place out.
I contacted owner and relayed information, again, Liza was understanding and replied right away in a text.
She offered free rent to continue with the booking or a refund.
Had already looked into alternate VRBO plus unwilling to subject other guests to the substandard conditions of the accommodation.
The "helper" told us: don't drink the water & the water pressure sucks.
Enter John & Mike, co-owners.
After many emails explaining how we would now be dealing with "walk through inspections by 3rd party realtors" (i.e. their agent who's selling the property)
and the cleaning crew ( the same folks that left the place in the shape we found it ) and adding a dig about not know about the "other guests". (Liza was informed, here is her initial response from Aug 20:
"Hi Bernadette. Thanks for your inquiry. I’m So sorry to hear of your loss of your farm. It’s so heartbreaking. If it’s only a few days for 4-occupants more I would gift that. Or if it’s quite a bit more occupants or days a small fair fee we can negotiate."
After paying to rent the place for 3 weeks, I was informed 3 days ago a partial $300 was refunded. My credit card shows no such payment.
I also knew I was in trouble dealing with them when I saw they were signing off by indicating their lawyers were "CC'd".
These folks pride themselves on sharing their 6 properties with people. This is a direct quote from their LaJolla site: "We love to make our homes available for others to enjoy and take very good care of them, with caretakers available to meet the needs of our
homes, as well as being hands one ourselves, at getting new furnishings, planting
tropicals and overseeing the cleanliness, bookings and helping our vacationers with
their reservations."
This property fell through a crack. My partner & I arrived & relayed our situation. Sometimes these things happen, I get it. When other two co-owners entered the picture so came the dark clouds.
I stated I wanted to deal with them directly & not get VRBO involved or write this review. The staff at VRBO say folks can get refunds back in a matter of minutes, they encouraged me to file this complaint which I do now with a heavy heart.
This house has tons of potential but not with the current energy invested
