The pictures just don't do this place justice. The house is inside an ancient fortified Etruscan village up on a mountain which includes a castle and a church and is home to about 35 permanent residents, I was told. I have never seen a more amazing view than the one from our terrace. The house is on 4 levels (actually 5 including the pool.) We had a group of 13 which included a 20-month-old and an 81-year-old and we all did just fine, but if you have a member of your group that has trouble with stairs, it might be a problem. All the furnishings were great, each room having its own bathroom. Although it was high up in the mountains, it was a little warm in the house the last few nights so Patricia, who manages the place, graciously furnished us with fans--a big help. Walking around the little streets of this village is such a unique experience and one of the best things about the town is the little restaurant Oscari, which has amazing food and the view from its terrace is spectacular. One of my favorite things was to walk the few steps up to the restaurant in the afternoons and have bruschetta and a glass of wine. For major grocery shopping, the town of Citta di Castello just down the mountain has a great grocery store, but Oscari's has a little shop attached where you may purchase meats, cheese, milk, juice. We spent our first week in Italy in Chianti at a large villa and it was spectacular, too, but this place is really an adventure and must be seen to be believed!
